JOIN THE MAGIC -- U.S. Soccer has created the U.S. Soccer Development Academy to improve the everyday environment for the elite youth player. The Chicago Magic Soccer Club is one of the select clubs that participates in the USSDA. "The exposure players receive in this program is second to none." said Academy Director Todd Bailey , “The Academy format provides top quality matches that challenges players on emotional, mental and physical levels." The U16 and U18 Monaco Magic Academy strives to provide players with the best possible opportunity to achieve their utmost potential as elite soccer players. 07/01/2009 -- The Chicago Magic U15 girls claimed the US Club Indianapolis Regional trophy with a 3-2 victory over FC Pride of Indianapolis. After a grueling 2-2 draw in regular time, Corrine Harris helped earn the girls the victory with a game winning goal 10 seconds into the first overtime. Coach Nathan Pitcock said, “The girls really played well during their pool play wins over Ohio Elite, Rochester FC, and FC Pride.” The Regional trophy qualifies the team for US Club Nationals in Virginia Beach. Chicago Magic / AS Monaco U16 Academy Reach Finals!

06/ 30/2009 -- The Chicago Magic / AS Monaco U16 Academy has punched their ticket to the Home Depot Center in Carson , California . The Magic Academy was one of 32 teams battling for eight spots. “Going to Nationals for a second straight year is a great achievement.” said Program Director Todd Bailey, “The Academy system has provided an environment of high-level matches and these boys now go on to the next level.” The Magic boys won the group in convincing fashion with a 3-0 record, scoring a total of eight goals and only allowing one. GOOD LUCK TO THE TEAM during USSDA Finals Week, which takes place from July 10-17.

All-America High School Team Announced

06/19/2009 -- Congratulations to Chicago Magic alum, Perry Kitchen for being named to the PARADE All-America High School team. Perry joins an elite list of players from across the nation. PARADE magazine is distributed by more than 470 Sunday newspapers, including the Boston Globe , Chicago Tribune , The Los Angeles Times , and the New York Post.

RAMPAGE FUTBOL LLC ACQUIRES CHICAGO MAGIC

06/18/2009 -- Rampage Futbol LLC, owner of the Rockford Rampage professional indoor soccer team, today announced its acquisition of the Chicago Magic Youth Soccer Club. The acquisition allows for a partnership between the professional team and youth club which will allow for greater input, as well as the sharing and coordination of resources including personnel, facilities, sponsorships and strategic partnerships throughout the greater northern Illinois area spanning from Frankfort to Rockford with additional facilities in the northern suburbs. 06/16/2009 -- The Chicago Magic will be having a final open tryout for the 2009/2010 U.S. Soccer Development Academy season. The U.S. Soccer Development Academy involves 78 teams from across America at the U16 and U18 age groups. Please complete our online form to begin your elite soccer player journey.  The final tryout will be held on June 23 rd at the College of Dupage , 425 Fawell Boulevard , Glen Ellyn , IL .  U16 from 5:30 until 7:30 PM and U18 from 6:30 until 8:30 PM.

Guzan and Lichaj Get the Call

05/26/2009 -- U.S. Men's National Team head coach Bob Bradley has named Brad Guzan and Eric Lichaj to a roster of players that will train in advance of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Costa Rica and Honduras . The U.S. will be seeking its first-ever victory away to Costa Rica when they meet at Estadio Saprissa in the fourth match of the 10 -game final round of qualifying for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. The U.S. defense has produced eight shutouts with Chicago Magic Alum, Brad Guzan picking up three of them between the posts. Aston Villa defender and another Chicago Magic Alum, Erich Lichaj has also been invited. This will be Eric's first camp with the full men's side.

Best of the Midwest Roundup

05/26/2009 -- The Best of the Midwest tournament came to a close this past weekend with plenty of key moments for the Chicago Magic Soccer Club. It began with the U9 boys recording 3 wins in their group. The U10 and U12 boys came up just short of the trophy losing to their championship finals. The U13 boys did capture the crown with a thrilling 4-2 victory over the Indiana Invaders. On the girls side the U15 girls, playing in the U16 division, came up just short of the title with a penalty kick loss to the CM North side. Congrats to all the players, coaches and their families!

Magic's McGuinness on Select Team

05/23/2009 -- Eighteen U.S. Soccer Development Academy players have been selected by U.S. Soccer National Team Staff to play a match against the U.S. Under-17 Men's National Team on Saturday as part of the Spring Showcase in Sarasota, Florida. Included in this elite group is Chicago Magic's standout player Billy McGuinness. With the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup on the horizon, U.S. U-17 Men's National Team head coach Wilmer Cabrera and his staff will use the friendly matches against this Select Team to evaluate the Academy players in a unique and competitive environment. All players competing in these matches are eligible to participate in the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup, which will take place from Oct. 24-Nov. 15 in Nigeria. Good Luck Billy!

Dallas Cup Recap

04/12/2009 -- The most competitive international youthsoccer tournament in North America was held this past week. The Dallas Cup is by invitation only and the Chicago Magic U15 and U17 teams were both invited to participate. The U15s fared well just missing the playoffs by a one point goal differential. The U17 side went undefeated in pool play and won their quarterfinal playoff match against the FC Dallas Juniors. The Magic boys lost in the semifinal against the eventual champion, Club Futbol Monterrey.

Harris Travels to Costa Rica

04/10/2009 -- The four Regional USYS ODP girls 94 teams competed in a round-robin style format against four First Division Women's teams in Costa Rica : UCEM Alajuela, San Jose , Arenal Coronado , and Heredia . The tournament took place at the Costa Rica 's national team headquarters "Complejo Deportivo FEDEFUTBOL-AMANCO," also known as Proyecto Gol in the capital city of San Jose , Costa Rica . Representing the Chicago Magic program was Corrine Harris. Congrats to Corrine for her hard work!

Puma Cup Gets Rained Out

04/08/2009 -- The Rockford Raptors FC & Dactyls Select hosted the PUMA Champions Cup and our Chicago Magic Silver team participated this year. Although the facilities were ready in Rockford the weather did not cooperate to produce a champion. The boys look forward to showcasing their skills at their next tournament at the Best of the Midwest.

Academy Weekend Results

03/23/2009 -- The Chicago Magic / AS Monaco U16 and U18 academy teams traveled to Ohio this past weekend to face CASA and the Internationals. The boys played well coming away with twelve points from the four matches. The matches all were recorded as shutouts for the Monaco Magic. The boys also tallied 9 goals in the matches.

Borge Named To SYL Select Team!

03/23/2009 -- The United Soccer Leagues Super Y-League ODP National 94/95 Camp was held at Ed Radice Sports Complex in northwest Tampa , Florida . The final day of the event consisted of one final match, the SYL ODP National Camp All-Star game. After the All-Star match was completed the coaches met for one final time to produce the 2009 Super Y-League Select 94/95 Team roster which included Magic's very own Elliot Borge!

U20 World Cup Qualifier Has Magic

02/24/2009 -- Chicago Magic alum and standout keeper, Josh Lambo is among the 20 players chosen for the U.S. U20 national team's roster for the upcoming CONCACAF Under-20 World Cup qualifying Tournament . The team will gather in Bradenton , Florida today to begin preparations for the CONCACAF Qualifying Tournament in Tobago beginning March 2nd. Good luck to Josh and the U.S. squad!

Presidents Day Cup Recap

02/23/2009 -- The Chicago Magic U-17 girls traveled to Phoenix Arizona February 13 th , to participate in the 30th annual Presidents Day Cup Tournament. The girl went 2-0-2 and only let up 1 goal in the tournament. “This tournament is a great preseason activity as it breaks up the indoor sessions for us.” said girls director Scott Fonfara, “I'm proud of the girls and their accomplishments in this tournament.”

Gatorade Players of the Year are Magic

02/19/2009 -- Gatorade State Players of the Year are selected on the basis of outstanding athletic excellence accompanied by high standards of academic achievement and exemplary personal character demonstrated on and off the field. This year's selection process included three Chicago Magic Academy players in Kevin Bick (KY), Robbie Boyd (WI) and Tim Zimmer (IL). These three state winners are eligible for the Gatorade National Player of the Year award which will be selected in May. Good luck to them all!

Qualifier Showcases Chicago's Strength

02/12/2009 -- The U.S. Men's National Team dominated Mexico with a 2-0 victory to open the final round of CONCACAF qualifying for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Sockers FC alum, Michael Bradley scored goals at the conclusion of each half to lead the way for the USA. Also seeing action was Chicago Magic alum, Ricardo Clark. “It's great for Chicagoland soccer to be represented on the national team.” said Boys Director, Todd Bailey, “I look forward to seeing another Magic alum in Brad Guzan between the posts at the next qualifier.”

FA Cup Match Win for Guzan

02/05/2009 -- Magic Goalkeeper Alum Brad Guzan was called into action and made one fine save as Villa downed second division Doncaster , 3-1, in a fourth-round FA Cup action. Brad joined Aston Villa last summer from Chivas USA , and had previously played four games for Aston Villa including a League Cup match and three UEFA Cup games.

Tackle From Behind

02/05/2009 -- A tackle from behind is not something that a soccer player usually wants to be caught doing. However Magic Alum and current University of Wisconsin player, Aaron Nichols did just that to stop a crime. Read the whole story here from the University of Wisconsin 's website.

NUMBER ONE in Chicagoland for the Sixth Time!

01/28/2008 -- Soccer America began selecting the top clubs in the nation since 2004. The list has always had MAGIC! Since the lists inception, the Chicago Magic has been the #1 club in Chicagoland. "It's great to be recognized as one of the top five clubs on a national level by Soccer America, but the real credit goes out to the players for their dedication." said Boys Director Todd Bailey, "Six straight years is quite an achievement and we could not have done it without the support of parents, sponsors, and our entire coaching staff."

NSCAA All-Americans Named

01/27/2008 -- Congratulations to the NSCAA All-Americans named this year. Youth All Americans include Kevin Bick and Perry Kitchen. High School All Americans include Kevin Bick, Casey Short and Tim Zimmer. Special honors go to Kevin Bick also for being named Kentucky Player of the year. Accolades were also given to the following Division I All Americans: Chris Schuler (2nd team), Mark Blades (3rd team) and Brad Ring (3rd team).

U.S. Youth Women's U18 National Team News

01/23/2009 -- U.S. Women's Youth U18 National Team will kick off 2009 with a 48-player super-camp at the end of January. The U18 camp features two Chicago Magic standouts in Whitney Sharpe and Casey Short. This camp is the initial stage in the process of identifying players for the 2010 U20 Women's World Cup in Germany. Congratulations and good luck to both girls!

Winter Classic Heats Up For Magic

01/19/2009 -- The Chicago Magic held their annual Winter Classic indoor tournament this past weekend. Seven Magic teams reached the finals of the eight divisions they entered. The U15 girls were the first to bring home the crown and were followed by the U17 and U18 girls who were named co-champions. In the boys division, the U8 and the U15 boys brought home the championship trophies, while the U9 and U13 boys both came up just short by losing in shootouts after regulation play. Congratulations to all!

Spring Best of the Midwest Applications Now Accepted!

01/17/2009 -- The 2009 Spring Best of the Midwest will be held at the Hallmark Convention and Sports Complex in Hebron , Indiana on some of the premier fields in the Midwest. The tournament held over three days (May 23-25) has become known for its outstanding team participation and its manicured single location fields. The tournament is open to Boys U8-U19 and Girls U8-U14. Don't miss the action, register today!

MLS Draft has Magic!

01/15/2009 -- The San Jose Earthquakes added a Chicago Magic alum to their team in the 2009 Major League Soccer SuperDraft. The Quakes picked midfielder Brad Ring in the second round (17th overall). Ring, 21, attended Indiana University , where he played 78 games, scored 14 goals and had 8 assists in his college career. He helped lead the team to NCAA Tournament berths in all four seasons. A 2004 NSCAA/adidas High School All-American and a three-time conference MVP, Ring led the Chicago Magic to a Super Y-League North American Championship in 2004.

Disney Showcase Recap

01/06/2009 -- The U17 and U15 Chicago Magic girls traveled to Orlando the end of 2008 to participate in the Disney Showcase. The 17's went 2-1-0 and advanced as the wildcard. They played Beadling SC Inferno in the semi-finals and won 2-1. The girls lost to the Colorado Storm in the championship final. The U15 girls also fared well, especially given the lack of players due to injury and illness. The 15's also advanced as the wildcard with a 2-1-0 record. The girls battled valiantly but came up on the losing end of a 1-0 score in semi final action.
